I was recently hired to do a commercial shoot for a political candidate. The political consultant who hired me was acting as art director for this shoot. I liked most of his ideas and honestly I wouldn’t have chosen to shoot the image above if he hadn’t suggested it.
In the end he didn’t like it and it really need to be wider. I probably could have made it better if I could have worked the shooting angles a bit longer but we were trying to get a lot of shots done before some very bad weather rolled in.
The point here is that when you are trying to get a shot try it from many different angles. Try it with different lenses, try putting the subject on a ladder and shooting up, try getting on a ladder for a different angle, and when you run out of options maybe getting the input from someone else is what you need.
