Listening to God and obeying him

Over the past few months I've been in a weekly men's breakfast meeting through my church. One of the things we've been discussing is obedience to God's word. When you are obedient, you are obedient to all of his word not just the parts you like. Part of the reason we are hesitant to be obedient is because God never gives us the entire message.

I've been struggling with where to take my career since graduating at the end of last year. I spent a lot of time in prayer on this issue and God keeps telling me something that honestly I'm afraid to hear. He has shown me over the past two years that I need to be a business owner. He has brought people into my life that have told me that. In one case he lead me to apply for a job and the owner of the company called me back and said, based on the personality profile I answered I needed to be in charge. He went on to say I was not going to succeed as an employee unless I was at an executive level. He didn't need to make that call, he could have just moved on the next candidate but he did make that call.

I've figured out that God is not going to give me the entire map. He is only going to give me the next step. Lysa TerKeurst explains it best, "Your job is to be obedient to God, God's job is everything else". All I need to do is what he tell me, and he will take care of the rest.
